 The Nancy Curvin Playground Players, jointly sponsored by GTG and Geneva Recreation Department, was founded in 1998, by the family and friends of Nancy Curvin, a past president of the Geneva Theatre Guild and an enthusiastic worker on Guild productions.

Each summer, two directors are hired to co-direct a small company of high school actors in a play to be performed for children and senior citizens. During late July and early August, the Players present between ten and fifteen performances at area playgrounds, parks, daycare centers, and senior citizen centers. All performances are free and open to the public.

The goals of this program are:

  1. to provide area children between five and ten years of age with easy access to theatre that is age-appropriate, entertaining, and artistically challenging;
  2. to bring live theatre to senior citizens who may be unable to attend the theatre; and
  3. to provide young adults (between 13 and 21 years of age) with an opportunity to extend their acting, directing, organizational and leadership skills.

In 2011 Annie Wilsey designed the adorable new logo for the Curvin Players, which can be seen at the top of this page.

The Youth Theatre Committee is composed of Luann Preston-Wilsey, Larry Ann Evans, Jen Mitchell, and Kathryn Snyder.

In 2017, Country-Ella was directed by Luis Figueroa, who was assisted by Nicolette Nault. One outdoor performance had to be moved indoors due to wet weather, but it was a great show–we even received a note of encouragement from the playwright!
